Two Black midwives carry forward an ancestral African American practice, as they offer safe home-births to Black mothers. In a state where home-birth midwives are barred from licensure, they are forced to operate underground and lead a political fight for a State Bill that would grant them licensure. Shot in timeless black and white. Rooted in intimate birth scenes. The film unfolds against the alarming backdrop of rising maternal mortality rates among Black women, revealing a growing movement.
