Sam a white man from Leigh-On-Sea, Essex learns how to talk to his nine-year-old, dual heritage daughter about her race. When he first met his wife Vicky, a Black woman from Ilford, he told her that he ‘didn’t see colour.’ When Grace struggles to understand where she fits in in the world and family members make racist comments, Sam’s understanding of race and identity develops from seeing Grace struggle to understand about her identity and also influenced by external factors such as Brexit.
